Outgoing Perak Deputy Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Chief Senior Asst Comm Fadzil Ahmat, who is set to become Selangor CID chief on Nov 21 said people should give careful thought to the dreams they pursue.
Fadzil said everyone has dreams, but at the end of the day when people do something without sincerity, it is all for nought.
“We should be doing things honestly. When we do something sincerely, people will eventually evaluate us well.
“We live in a world where everybody is able to watch you. With the power of social media, people are able to see your steps. We have to understand the world that we live in.
“Our work can be easily seen,” said Fadzil in his speech during a ceremony to hand over his duties at the Perak Police Headquarters.
Fadzil is set to be replaced by Asst Comm W. Puspanathan, who was formerly deputy Ampang Jaya OCPD.
Fadzil thanked the police personnel in Perak for making his work in the state easy and said that he learnt a lot from his time in Perak.
“I came to Perak in July 2011. I’ve been here more than five years and gone through some bitter-sweet moments, but it was worth it. I learnt a lot from Perak. We have 15 districts to handle. I didn’t face tough moments in Perak because it was easy to work with the personnel here.
“I hope this commitment will continue. Give your full commitment to Datuk Gan and Puspanathan,” he said.
Puspanathan returns to Perak after 10 years working outside the state and said he is looking forward to working with Perak’s CID Head Senior Assistant Commissioner Datuk Gan Tian Kee and the team in the state.
“I’ve been in the force for 21 years and I’ve moved 15 times since joining the force. Each posting given to me is like a challenge.
“As a new member of the state’s police force, I hope I can learn from Datuk Gan because he is experienced and knowledgeable. I will surely learn from him and the contingent.
“I would also like to congratulate SAC Fadzil on his promotion,” Puspanathan said in his speech.
Gan said he is happy to see Fadzil moving to Selangor and that the posting is a deserved promotion.
“When senior officers called me to ask about Fadzil, I did not hesitate to recommend him as Selangor CID chief.
“He is very experienced and did a great job in Perak. I have full confidence in him.
“As members of an organisation, we go through trials and tribulations. When we leave, we have to leave a positive legacy. Fadzil has done exactly that,” said Gan.
