Cherok Tokun forest park to close for cleanup next month

What an eyesore: Forestry staff members Amirul Farok (left) and Aswad Nasarudin picking up litter at one of the hiking trails in the Cherok Tokun recreational forest in Bukit Mertajam, Penang.

LITTERING is such a smelly and unsightly problem at the Cherok Tokun forest reserve in Bukit Mertajam that it has moved authorities to close it next month for a major cleanup.

Piles of rubbish that included plastic packaging of all sorts can be seen along the park’s popular nature trail.
