POPULAR brands were given recognition for product innovation and quality at the recent 16th Guardian People’s Choice Award (PCA).

Held in conjunction with Guardian’s 49th anniversary celebration, this year’s PCA featured almost 250 products ranging from 141 brands of personal care, cosmetics and healthcare to confectionery across 57 categories.

Five Special Recognition awards were also presented during the awards ceremony at Connexion@Nexus, Bangsar South, Kuala Lumpur.

Winning brands were based on consumers’ voice who voted for their favourites among the many brands in the market.

Guardian Health and Beauty Sdn Bhd merchandise director Anna Hull congratulated the winning brands for their continuous efforts in pushing forward products of high quality and relevant to the market. “Since its first edition in 2001, the PCA has maintained its objective of acknowledging brands that are constantly developing amazing products which cater to our everyday needs.

“What started out as a platform for unbiased brand valuation by customers has now grown to become a trusted guide to quality brands, and the success of these brands has boosted our reputation as one of the main retail pharmacies in Malaysia,” said Hull.

She added that the PCA gave customers the opportunity to vote for their favourite brands based on an established and transparent selection process through a new online-based voting system from April 28 to May 25.

“The awards also provides our business partners and brand owners a platform to strengthen their relationship with consumers,” said Hull.

Winning brands include Blackmores for best evening primrose oil, Salonpas for best muscle relief, Woods’ for best cough relief and Kinohimitsu for best collagen product.

The Best Supplier for Health award went to Abbott Laboratories (M) Sdn Bhd while Ginvera Marketing Enterprise Sdn Bhd received the Best Supplier for Beauty Care award.

Meanwhile, Reckitt Benckiser (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd earned the Best Innovation award for its Dettol Gold.

As part of its anniversary celebration to reward loyal customers, Guardian organised a “Win a House” contest from July 28 to Sept 28, to give away a double-storey link house at Eurema, D’Mayang Sari by Seri Pajam worth RM489,000 plus RM9,000 worth of Guardian products.
