SIBU: The Social Work Project Class of Methodist Pilley Institute (MPI) has helped raised RM2,000 for needy cancer patients being aided by National Cancer Council Malaysia (Makna).

The three-week campaign was launched by MPI board of management chairman Hii Ching Chiong, who also donated RM2,000.

“We can, I can” campaign project advisor Eta Ting said the money was raised from selling event T-shirts and food at the institute.

“All 225 T-shirts priced at RM35 each have been sold out. Those who are interested to help can call me at 014-8858585 or the institute at 084-322268” she said.

Hii hopes that the campaign would promote caring spirit for cancer patients.

“We need a caring society. Everybody now seems to be so busy that they forget about others.

“Makna and MPI are trying to remind the public to be more caring through this campaign,” he said.

Cancer patients needed attention and moral support from society, he added.

Makna currently has 5,452 underprivileged cancer patients, of whom 466 are children.
