Company adds RM10,000 in aid to special needs group

FOR the last three years, Globetronics Sdn Bhd has been helping the Penang Down Syndrome Association (PDSA) with aid amounting to more than RM60,000.

It is one company that takes its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme seriously.

“We started a three-year funding programme for PDSA which ends this year,” said company director Ng Kok Choong.

“The association does good work and we will look into supporting it again,” said Ng during a RM10,000 mock cheque presentation at the company’s premises in Bayan Lepas Industrial Zone in Penang recently.

The RM10,000 was the pledge made by the company in support of the Starwalk 2016 Charity Walk.

Globetronics founder and executive chairman Michael Ng presented the cheque to PDSA vice-president Tracy Loh.

PDSA secretary Daphne Tan said the association was grateful for the funding from the company over the last three years.

“Every bit helps as we have about 300 registered Down Syndrome adults and children in the association who have to be taken care of,” said Tan.

“We are all parents of Down Syndrome children and have been running our centre in Pulau Tikus with public funds since the association’s inception in 1999,” added Tan.
