Getting cops closer to the people

DCP Chuah says NBOS is a ‘reach out and engage approach‘ where policemen are sent out to various neighbourhoods so that they become familiar with the local people.

COMMUNITY policing using the National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS) has made policemen not only more visible in the community but also more understanding of the people’s problems.

Royal Malaysian Police, Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department deputy director (Strategic Planning) DCP Datuk Chuah Ghee Lye said NBOS was a reach-out-and-engage approach where policemen were sent out to various neighbourhoods so that they become familiar with local residents.
