STUDENTS want institutions with a stimulating learning environment. They will also favour an institution with facilities that can cater to all their needs, especially those who live far from home and are without transportation.

Taking all these into consideration, Infrastructure University Kuala Lumpur (IUKL) is transforming into a modern university within the 40ha new education township at De Centrum City in Kuala Lumpur South.

The existing university campus will be upgraded with green features added.

It will continue to develop in stages as the township will be built around the university. The development for residences, supporting businesses and conveniences will grow in phases.

De Centrum City was crowned the Best Mixed Development project at the Property Insight’s Prestigious Developer Awards (Pipda) 2015.

Pipda recognises innovation and outstanding achievements across the entire property industry.

The new education township promotes a vehicle-free community concept where amenities can be enjoyed within walking distance.

IUKL’s new academic building with updated facilities is in its final stage of construction. It will be up and running very soon.

A neighbourhood shopping centre, the Gallerie @ De Centrum is situated within the campus ground where students will be able to get their daily necessities. There are shops, cafes, a laundromat and restaurants including fast-food outlets.

In the pipeline are a grocer, stationery and printing shop, cybercafé, courier service, bakery, saloon and many more.

For those who are from out of town, there are hostels, apartments and condominiums located within the education township.

The completed apartment block, Soho, offers up to 192 units. In addition to the existing two towers A and B of the Unipark condominiums, there will be another two blocks (C and D) that will be completed next year.

When fully completed, De Centrum Unipark will offer a total of 640 condominium units.

Students get to live comfortably in air-conditioned units complete with broadband Internet service and covered carpark for those who drive.

Facilities in the building include gym, swimming pool, tennis court, multipurpose hall and convenience shops.

Residents can easily access places such as IOI City Mall, Putrajaya, The Mines shopping centre, Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC), KLIA and klia2.

IUKL provides shuttle bus services to the KTM Serdang and LRT Sungai Besi stations.

A shuttle bus service will be implemented next year to link commuters from De Centrum City and to Kajang MRT station.

Future development include recreational facilities, mini stadium, hotels, apartments and a convention centre.

IUKL is holding its Info Day on Oct 8 and 9 from 10am to 4pm.

September intake is open for registration.
