KUCHING: Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developer Association (Sheda) will be holding the annual Sheda Property Expo 2016 from Sept 23 to 25 in Kuching.
The exhibition is Sarawak’s largest one-stop real estate fair. About 100 booths will showcase the projects of local and international property developers.
The event is backed by financiers, local councils, home appliances suppliers and automobile dealers.
Organising chairman John Yong said the exhibition served as a marketplace for developers to connect with potential buyers and investors. Among the participating developers are Naim Land Sdn Bhd, Lee Onn Construction Sdn Bhd, MJC City Development Sdn Bhd, CMS Property Development Sdn Bhd and RB Development Sdn Bhd.
“This is a go-to place for property hunters and home owners,” Sheda president Joseph Wong said.
He expects some exhibitors to display a range of affordable housing such as last year’s PR1MA.
“There will be more developers selling houses with prices lower than before because of the slower economy. I am sure developers are looking at selling afordable houses,” Wong said.
“There is always a cut-out point whereby developers need to sell a number of units before the project can be completed,” added Wong.
Sheda will gather relevant data – by conducting a survey – for its affordable housing proposal to the state government.
The survey will assist the body in gauging actual demand for affordable houses.
“We encourage buyers to register with us. We can use the data to convince the Government that demand for affordable houses is huge,” Wong said.
Property talks by both international and local speakers will be held on Sept 24 and 25.
Earlybirds to the three day expo receive door gifts. Visitors who spend more than RM1,000 or more at any exhibitor booth will be eligible to participate in a lucky draw.
Among the programmes scheduled for the three-day event are colouring contest, Junior Star Karaoke singing contests, Zumba Fitness session and Food Relay Eating Contest.
