‘Malaysia has come a long way’

SINCE the implementation of the New Economic Policy (NEP), poverty in Malaysia has dramatically declined from almost 50% in 1970 to less than 2% nationwide now, said Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Seri Madius Tangau.

During his keynote speech at the Pangkor Dialogue in Ipoh, he said after almost 45 years since its implementation by the late Tun Abdul Razak, the NEP is reaching its objective to facilitate national unity through the eradication of poverty and restructuring of society.
