Have harsher laws on cockle smuggling, says CAP


THE Consumers Association of Penang (CAP) believes that rampant smuggling of cockle spats into a neighbouring country is dwindling the population of the mollusc in the country.

Its president S.M. Mohamed Idris claimed that cockle farmers were selling the spats to Thailand as there is a good market for it there.
