MALACCA: Renowned chef Martin Yan met Julie’s Biscuits Director Martin Ang recently when the former visited the factory.

Martin Yan, top chef well known for hosting cooking shows visited Julie’s Biscuit Factory located in Malacca for his latest food show “Taste of Malaysia – Malacca”.

This food programme will be broadcast in Mandarin and English on both channel TV9 and NTV7.

Not only was he given a tour of the overall Julie’s Biscuits production, Yan also showcased his cooking skills together with Ang.

The first encounter between both Martins was amusing when both of them greeted each other “Hello Martin. Welcome Martin”.

During the whole filming process, Ang explained the history of the local biscuit brand which is now exported to 75 countries worldwide.

Both Martins then demonstrated their cooking skills and talents by creating some unique dishes using Julie’s Butter Crackers. Among some of their creations were delicious canapes and mini pizzas using Julie’s butter crackers, tomato sauce, mushroom and cheese.

The interesting aspect in this cooking collaboration was both Martins were very comfortable and worked well together while preparing their dishes where Yan was in charge of cutting the fruits while Ang decorated the biscuits with it. At the end of the show, Yan also came up with his specially created dessert using bananas and chocolate sauce with Julie’s butter crackers.

Ang, who is an avid fan of desserts praised and showed admiration towards his creation.

Yan said that the filming allowed him to get to know Ang while having a better understanding on the overall process of producing Julie’s Biscuits where love is the main motto of the company.

“I realised that the corporate culture of Julie’s is so strong where each employee takes their role and responsibilities very seriously, but at the same time are very warm and friendly. The smile etched on each of the employees’ faces makes the working environment comfortable and filled with affection. The slogan “Baked with Love” is not just meaningless words but really embedded in the company.”

This recording specially sponsored by Julie’s Biscuits will be aired in a special series “Taste of Malaysia with Martin Yan – Malacca”. The English version will be aired every Saturday at 6pm on TV9 while the Mandarin version will be aired every Friday at 10pm on NTV7 beginning Oct 7.

This 26 episodes programme “Taste of Malaysia with Martin Yan” will showcase a variety of Malaysian cuisines and dishes, attractions, history and traditional culture of the various ethnic groups in the country where filming was done in the Klang Valley, Penang, Ipoh, Malacca, the East Coast, Johor and Sabah.
