THE Star and Private Pension Administrator (PPA) Malaysia are holding a half-day talk on Taking Charge of Your Retirement this Sunday from 9am to 1pm at Menara Star, Petaling Jaya.
The talk will address current retirement issues and concerns especially on planning and saving for retirement.
Retirement will hit everyone eventually and inadequate savings and the rising cost of living will result in many not being able to have the retirement life they want.
Recent reports have highlighted that almost 80% of Malaysians are not ready for retirement.
In light of this, The Star and PPA have jointly organised a series of retirement talks – starting from July 24 to educate the public on how to plan and save more for their retirement.
PPA Malaysia chief executive officer Datuk Steve Ong will be speaking at the event. He is a professional with over 35 years of experience in financial services and is currently focused on helping individuals address their retirement planning and saving issues.
Ong is actively involved in various institutions and organisations working to promote as well as educate the public about retirement including the Private Retirement Scheme (PRS).
He has spoken at over 100 events, promoting and educating thousands of participants to plan for and manage their retirement.
As an advocate for the PRS, Ong will touch on various aspects of retirement planning to save more for retirement.
He has also contributed articles on retirement planning for several financial publications and magazines.
Admission is free and all participants will receive a complimentary one-year subscription of The Star ePaper.
In addition, participants will stand a chance to win a RM500 PRS contribution.
The talk this Sunday is fully booked. There will be another session on Aug 14 by Ong at Menara Star. For more details, look out for advertisements in The Star on July 30.
