Volunteers spruce up church for annual St Anne’s Feast

FOR Mary Margaret Santhanasamy, dedicating her weekends to help upkeep cleanliness at the Church of St Anne’s grounds in Bukit Mertajam, Penang, has been a humbling experience.

The 58-year-old retired factory employee from Machang Bubok said she had no qualms scaling the steep stairways at the hillock behind the old St Anne’s church building (now known as St Anne’s Shrine) to sweep dried leaves.
