MORE than 3,000 years ago, during the ancient Chinese Shang dynasty, a bloodthirsty king who ruled a large part of what is known as modern China ordered the execution of his uncle and loyal councillor for treason.
Fearing for the family’s safety, the councillor’s wife fled to a nearby forest and later gave birth to a son.
