Lack of feeder bus coverage in Subang Jaya

Subang Jaya residents are crying foul over the shortage of new feeder bus services at the LRT extention line.

They claimed the T770 bus from the Subang Jaya LRT station to Sunway Pyramid did not cover SS12, Wangsa Baiduri and SS19.

The T777 buses from Taipan station to USJ 13, USJ 17 and USJ 18 leaves out USJ 12.

Meanwhile, the T776 buses from USJ 7 and Taipan stations to Subang Mewah disconnects residents living in USJ 3, USJ 11 and USJ 12.

SS19/1 Residents Association (RA) deputy chairman Peter Chin said about 2,000 houses and apartments from SS19/1 to SS19/6 would have no bus service to the LRT stations.

“The only bus stop we have is in SS19/7 but buses do not pass there.

“It is also not possible for us to drive to the stations because there are no parking facilities there.

“We have been waiting for the LRT service in Subang for so long but we can’t use it if we are not connected to the stations properly,” he said during a press conference organised by Subang Jaya assemblyman Hannah Yeoh at her office.

USJ 12 RA chairman Datuk Nor Azman Abd Rahman said more than 1,200 households would not be able to access the LRT stations effectively.

“There are many students living in USJ12 and most would need the LRT to get to their colleges.

“But the lack of a feeder bus service near our area makes it difficult,” he said.

USJ 3/4 Rukun Tetangga chairman Tang Yeng Yap said without proper feeder bus routes, more people would have to drive to the stations to drop off and pick up passengers.

“Even if each car only stops for two minutes, traffic congestion in the road would last more than 45 minutes during peak hours.

“Right now, USJ3/A, B, C, and D are completely cut off from the feeder bus routes and in our area alone, we have 1,200 houses,” he said.

Yeoh said that the onus is on Prasarana to provide sufficient services for the 500,000 people in the area.

“Prasarana should not rely on Selangorku buses to service these routes as it is provided by the state government to residents in the area.

“Prasarana has invested RM8bil in this LRT project so they should provide sufficient feeder buses.

“As there is insufficient Park N Ride facilities at the stations in the constituency, feeder buses are crucial to connect residents to the stations especially near Persiaran Tujuan and Persiaran Setia,” she said.
