THERE are about 100 Ramadan bazaar permits still available at the Selayang Municipal Council (MPS).
MPS licensing director Affendei Samingan said about 85% of 701 permits were taken up during the recent drawing of lots at Dewan Beringin in Taman Sri Gombak.
He said the cost of each permit was RM185.
Traders who obtain two permits will get a discount of RM35, with two lots priced at RM335.
“The cost of each permit includes the rental of the lot, apron and insurance.
“An additional RM100 will be imposed on traders who sell sugar cane and coconut water.
“I hope those who do not have trading permits will put in an application immediately at the MPS licensing department in Bandar Baru Selayang’’ he said.
The Ramadan bazaars are located in Taman Tun Teja, Kampung Melayu Sungai Buloh, Kampung Nakhoda, Gombak Setia, Taman Ehsan, Bandar Country Homes (Jalan BCH 1C) and Rawang town.
MPS also helps monitor 11 Ramadan bazaar sites handled by resident committees.
These are located in Pinggiran Batu Caves, Taman Sri Gombak, Selayang Baru, Selayang Indah, Taman Greenwood, Bandar Tasik Puteri, Taman Samudra, Taman Batu Caves, Dataran Niaga Zon 15 in Rawang, Bandar Baru Selayang and Selayang Utama.
Affendei stressed that it was compulsory for the traders and their assistants, who would be preparing and selling food, to attend a food handling course.
“Typhoid vaccinations are also mandatory. I hope the traders will maintain cleanliness and quality to avoid any health issues or stop disease from being spread.
“The council will have regular spot checks at these Ramadan bazaars to ensure traders keep clean at all times,’’ he said.
