WHAT better way to start the day than with a freshly brewed cup of good coffee?
Over the years, coffee culture has changed dramatically and shifted from being a daily morning stimulant into a lifestyle and semi-luxury drink.
This prompted IJM Land Berhad to gather more than 150 guests to view the special screening of The Coffee Man documentary at ICE Gallery, Pantai Sentral Park.
IJM Land Berhad senior general manager Hoo Kim See said it had always been Pantai Sentral Park’s aim to encourage its residents to enjoy all the goodness the world had to offer.
“Pantai Sentral Park puts a lot of value on high quality living. Some associate this with having a home surrounded by greenery while for others, this means starting a day with a perfect cup of coffee.
“The Good Coffee Day is just one of our many initiatives whereby we invite our customers to experience the values of Pantai Sentral Park.
“We believe a hot cup of coffee in the morning will perk up anyone’s day, and we want to show the audience the many varieties and qualities that come with good coffee beans,” Hoo explained.
The 80-minute documentary featured the Australian Barista champion and World Barista Championship 2015 winner Sasa Sestic on his quest to find the best coffee in the world.
Filmed over the course of 14 months, the documentary shows Sestic embarking on his journey to numerous countries such as Australia, the United States, Ethiopia, Honduras and Colombia for that wonder bean.
“I’ve worked as a bartender and a chef before, but the wonders of coffee appeal to me the most. My interest in wanting to learn more about coffee drove me to find that perfection the bean has to offer so that I can share with the rest of the world.
“I started roasting my first batch of coffee beans in a friend’s garage before I eventually got to work as a barista in Ona Coffee, and from then on, I was determined to find the perfect coffee bean,” Sasa shared during the meet-and-greet session.
At the event, guests mingled over a variety of freshly brewed cups of coffee by Australian coffee roaster Coffex.
Besides that, guests also learned how to get the most from good quality coffee beans at home at the Filter Coffee Workshop held by 2008 Sydney/NSW Latte Art champion Tristan Michael Creswick.
At the end of the event, guests brought home creative caricatures painted by Malaysia’s first coffee caricature artist Vivian Lee, as a token of appreciation.
Pantai Sentral Park by IJM Land Berhad is a new township in the enclave of Bangsar South, beside one of the last green lungs in Petaling Jaya.
