KUALA Lumpur City Hall’s (DBKL) six-member band will hold performances at Peoples’ Housing Projects (PPR) in future.
DBKL Culture, Arts and Sports Department music unit assistant producer Albert Natahar said the band plans to perform at various PPR flats in the city after Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
“Apart playing at the event, we aim to give residents of the area a chance to perform in terms of singing and dancing.
“This will help youths in the area showcase their talent and prevent them from getting involved in unhealthy activities,” he said at the DBKL’s “Sayangi KL” Music Performance at Taman Tasik Titiwangsa.
He said the band had been performing at different parks under DBKL.
“We think it is time to expand our reach,” he said, adding that the minor concert was held every month.
“This time we went with the 1960s Malay music theme,” he said.
He said artistes who performed at the concerts included Datuk L. Ramli, Fatimah M. Amin, Rodziah Latif and A. Rahman Onn.
