ONE could almost hear a pin drop when speaker Bert van Walbeek asked if Malaysia was well-prepared to handle tourism safety and security.

“Safety and security are key to sustainable growth in tourism. The first question that tourism retailers are being asked these days is is it safe to go to Malaysia?” said the Pacific Asia Travel Association master of disaster.
