A FEEDER bus service to and from Rawang to Medan Pasar, Kuala Lumpur will be provided from May 30 as upgrading works of the KTM line is carried out from Rawang to Salak South.
However, KTM Berhad is still negotiating with the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) on the number of buses, time, route and frequency.
On Wednesday, KTM Berhad had a briefing with Selayang MP William Leong, Rawang assemblyman Gan Pei Nei, Selayang Municipal councillors and local leaders on the upgrading works at the KTM Komuter station in Rawang.
Gan said the project will take four years to complete and this could inconvenience many people who use the KTM Komuter to travel to work from Rawang to Kuala Lumpur.
She pointed out that while the upgrading work is done, only one track will be in operation and it could take longer for passengers to get to their destination.
“To ease the public’s burden, KTM Berhad has said that they would provide a feeder bus during the upgrading work but would only know the details next week after their discussion with SPAD.
“Once the upgrade is complete, it would reduce travelling time by 20 minutes.
“The train ride from Rawang to Kuala Lumpur during non-peak hours is about 45 minutes,’’ she said.
KTM Berhad head of communication Ridhwan Arshad said they will inform the public once they have received confirmation from SPAD.
“We are also looking to discuss with Setara Jaya Sdn Bhd on the possibility of the company taking this route.
“We believe that by early 2017, the congestion here would be eased when the MRT line in Sungai Buloh is operational,” he said.
