Super bikers raise funds for welfare homes

SOME 1,100 people on 700 high- powered motorcycles took part in a charity programme.

The ‘Three Countries Charity Ride (3CCR)’ organised by ST Owners Club Singapore saw bikers from Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore gathered outside Aroma Hotel in Butterworth, Penang, on Sunday.

The event first started in 2012 and has been held annually where each country would take turns to organise it.

After a briefing by the police, north Seberang Prai OCPD Asst Comm Azmi Adam presented RM3,000 to Happy Retirement Home.

3CCR Thailand founder Nawee Weera and 3CCR Singapore founder Desmond Chew also handed over RM3,000 to Pertubuhan Kebajikan Kanak-kanak Batu Grace.

Three needy people also received RM1,000 each.

ACP Azmi then flagged off the motorcyclists to the second location which was the Persatuan Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Cacat Yee Ran Jing Sheh in Taman Belimbing, Bukit Tengah, near Bukit Mertajam.

Penang police chief Comm Datuk Abdul Ghafar Rajab, who was the guest-of-honour, presented a RM10,000 cheque and goodies to the home’s representative.

The bikers then rode to their third location, El Chong BMW Motorrad, in Taman Jawi Jaya, Sungai Jawi, where south Seberang Prai OCPD Supt Abdul Shafee Abdul Samad handed over a RM3,000 cheque to Persatuan Kebajikan Kanak-kanak Istimewa Daerah SPS.

Pertubuhan Bakti Yong Ai Daerah Kulim, the Children’s Protection Society, Persatuan Kebajikan & Ihsan Seberang Perai, Kebajikan Kasih Malaysia, Persatuan Haemodialysis Seberang Perai and Persatuan Kebajikan Shammah Butterworth also received donations of RM3,000 each from 3CCR.
