Masing slams armchair critics

Masing says the oil palm industry contributed RM8bil to Sarawak

KUCHING: Sarawak Land Development Minister Tan Sri Dr James Masing has taken to task non-governmental organisations (NGOs) which are critical of the employment of foreign workers by oil palm plantations but offer no solution on resolving the sector’s acute labour shortage.

“There is no point in being merely armchair critics who are only good at criticising the government but not coming forward to provide viable solutions or practical ideas to the problem besetting the (oil palm) industry,” he said when opening a seminar at Riverside Majestic Hotel here yesterday.
