THE new Aeon Mall Shah Alam recently got a royal touch from the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah as he officiated the opening of the mall, creating yet another milestone for the general merchandise store and supermarket chain.

Also present at the event was Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali. Aeon Mall Shah Alam is the 25th Aeon Mall and 31st Aeon store in Malaysia.

Around RM440mil was invested in this mall, which spans 139,000sqm, offering a mix of 160 tenants including international retailers such as H&M, Uniqlo and the second Index Living Mall in the country.

The mall prides itself on having a one-of-a-kind four-season themed decor, inspired by Japan’s seasonal changes – summer, autumn, winter and spring.

Aeon Co (M) Berhad chairman Datuk Abdullah Mohd Yusof said they want to be more than just a shopping space.

“In line with our Do Mall campaign, which was launched last year, we want to boost our customer’s experience by focusing on the five pillars – Do Yummy, Do Style, Do Together, Do Exciting and Do Fun – by offering the best in food, fashion, community activities, shopping experiences and entertainment.

“We seek to position Aeon Mall Shah Alam as the lifestyle shopping experience mall for the 650,000 people who call Shah Alam home,” explained Abdullah, hoping that the mall would attract not only locals but international tourists as well.

During the grand opening, Malaysian Aeon Foundation, the charity arm of Aeon Group Malaysia, took the opportunity to contribute donations to Yayasan Raja Muda Selangor, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak Yatim Darul Ehsan Malaysia, Persatuan Penyayang Nur Iman Kuala Lumpur dan Selangor, Persatuan Kanak-Kanak Spastik Selangor dan Wilayah Persatuan, Persatuan Kebajikan Rumah Grace Klang and Pusat Jagaan Anbe Sivam.

The event ended with Sultan Sharafuddin going on a mall tour.

Staying true to its aim of enhancing shoppers’ experience, Aeon Mall Shah Alam is providing free refrigerated locker services so shoppers can go about with their activities without having to worry about their frozen or perishable groceries.

The mall also has a 2,500-bay car park, shopping cart lockers, premier prayer rooms for Muslims, a children-only restroom as well as “Kidzoona” Fantasy Train.

To celebrate the grand opening, Aeon Mall Shah Alam is organising a series of Japanese and local cultural activities such as Waidako drum performance, kimono showcase, Japanese cosplay and doll-making demonstration until April 10.

Shoppers can also enjoy exciting tenant promotions during this period.
