KUANTAN: Celebrate Easter Sunday in the French countryside this year without having to buy a plane ticket.
Colmar Tropicale resort in Berjaya Hills, Bentong will be having several family-oriented activities in conjunction with the holiday.
Berjaya Hills chief executive officer Teh Ming Wah said these include a Golden Egg treasure hunt and egg colouring contest as well as dancing, hula hoop and drawing contests.
Colmar Tropicale’s restaurants La Flamme and La Poulet Roti will also be preparing festive meals while visitors would also be able to make their own cupcakes and enjoy Easter bread at the La Boulangerie bakery.
Don’t forget to look out for Easter bunnies at the Animal Park next door which will have about 200 rabbits hopping around.
Teh said Colmar Tropicale aims to give Malaysians a taste of French culture.
“Not everyone can afford to fly to Colmar in France, but they can probably afford to come to Colmar Tropicale,” she said.
The French-themed resort was modelled after an actual 16th century village in Alsace, France, which was famous for its preserved old town and sunny weather.
Spanning over 6,475ha, Berjaya’s version of Colmar is located on Pahang’s mountain range 914.4m above sea level, giving it a similarly cool environment.
The resort is a mere 45-minute drive from Kuala Lumpur and 10km off the Karak Highway.
Teh said many from Klang Valley welcome a break from city life especially during festive weekends.
The resort, which has 235 rooms and suites, was fully occupied during the Chinese New Year period.
“We had traffic jams all the way up the hill,” said Teh.
For those not keen to drive, the resort also offers daily return shuttle transfer services from Berjaya Times Square Hotel and Convention Centre, Kuala Lumpur as well as shuttle services within Berjaya Hills.
