JOHOR BARU: A businessman has adorned his house and cars with thousands of miniature and large state flags as well as images of Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar to express his love and loyalty to the Johor Ruler.

M. Kandapan said he used a total of 3,000 state and district flags to decorate his Perodua Myvi, Proton Exora, his home as well as neighbouring houses to enliven the celebration of the Johor Sultan’s birthday on March 23.

Kandapan also gave his neighbours a state and district flag each to hang in their compound.

He also designed the stickers which were pasted on his cars .

“I gave out 3ft by 6ft flags to 10 nearby houses to symbolise the number of districts in the state.

“We also plan to distribute about 1,000 state flags to children at Dataran Bandaraya Johor Baru on March 22 and 23,” he said when met at his house in Bandar Seri Alam here.

Kandapan said that he had gone to such trouble to mark the birthday as a sign of respect for Sultan Ibrahim who was known as a people-oriented ruler.

“I hope to send out the message to everyone that regardless of race, we should live in harmony and stay united,” he said.

Pasir Gudang MIC chairman R. Sabapathy commended Kandapan on his effort.
