LOI Hean Sing’s face brightened up when his name was announced the grand prize winner of the Gama Festive Shopping Contest 15/16.
The 51-year-old businessman took home a 55” Samsung Curved Full HD Smart TV after beating seven other finalists in a game called ‘Throw To Win’.
“Winning the Smart TV is timely as my wife and I have been looking for one for some time now,” he said during the prize presentation ceremony at the Gama Supermarket and Departmental Store in Penang on Saturday.
The game, which was conducted by Gama’s marketing division, required the finalists to throw ping pong balls into individual dimples of an egg carton to score points.
The number of points of each individual dimple were denoted by the colour they were painted with – orange (10 points), green (five points), blue (two points) and white (one point). Dimples that were not painted carried zero points.
Each finalist took turns to compete for two rounds where they were allowed 10 attempts each round.
Businessman Chong Jean Chai, 43, and another finalist known only as Raventhiran, 54, took home the two first prizes of a Samsung S6 Edge smartphone each. Chong represented his wife Lau Lye Em, 43, who was unable to attend due to work.
The other five finalists were given Gama gift vouchers worth RM888 each.
Gama marketing division senior manager Leong Hau Soon, who presented the prizes, said the game was held to give a fair chance for the eight finalists to win the grand prize.
The contest ran from Oct 9 to Feb 21.
