MATTERS of joint interest were discussed during the Perak-Yala Sub-Committee Meeting that was held from March 1 to 3 in Taiping.
The annual meeting discussed health services issues faced by cross-border neighbours Perak and Yala Province in Thailand.
The Thai province was represented by a 30-strong delegation led by Yala Provincial Chief Medical Officer Dr Utissak Harirattanakul. The Thai delegation included six representatives from Nakhonsawan Province, led by Deputy Chief Medical Officer Plernpit Ponpariyakun.
Perak State Health Director Datuk Dr Juita Ghazalie led a delegation of 30.
Among the issues discussed included preparations and responses for infectious diseases, pharmaceutical item management, and food safety and quality.
The meeting also served as a platform to share information on innovations in patient care and treatment methods.
The delegation from Thailand was also taken on a visit to a mineral water plant in Taiping, a drive-through pharmacy service at the Taiping Health Clinic, Taiping Lake Gardens, Bukit Larut and Taiping Zoo.
The Perak Health Department will take part in the Border Health Goodwill Meeting involving three bordering provinces in Chanthaburi, Thailand, in May.
