KUCHING: Special needs student Mohd Ezzatul Hanafiah Sahmad from SMK Datuk Patinggi Haji Abdul Gapor Stampin is one step closer to his dream of becoming a teacher.
The fourth of five siblings, Ezzatul lost his hearing at two following an accident.
He scored an A- in Landscape and Nursery, B for Bahasa Melayu, Islamic Studies, History, Science and Visual Arts. He achieved a C in Mathematics and D for English.
Sahmad Goheh, 45, Ezzatul’s father, hopes his son will be able to help other special needs students.
“After arriving home at about 7pm, he would take a nap before waking up at midnight to study until 4am,” said Sahmad.
Azreena Aziah Jasmine from Kolej Datuk Pattingi Abang Haji Abdillah who scored 4A+ and 5As aspires to do medicine.
“I feel very blessed, I want to thank my parents and my school and tuition teachers.
“My parents motivated me to do my homework and revise all the time,” she told reporters.
“I used to wake up at 3am to study till 5am.
“When you study in the morning, it is easier to absorb more information,” she said.
