Building strong ties Tradition of reunion dinner plays important part in bringing as many family members as possible under one roof

LAST Sunday, we celebrated Chinese New Year eve with a reunion dinner at the home of one of my maternal uncles, attended by the extended family on my mother’s side.

In a sign of changing times, the food we had that night came from a caterer, rather than each family contributing a dish or two as per our usual practice. Such are our busy lives these days that it’s not always easy to find time to cook.
