THE Penang government has spent nearly RM1mil to replace new water tanks and lifts at the three low-cost flats (Block 21, 23 and 25) of Taman Seri Damai in Batu Lanchang.

Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said the state had paid 80% of the cost while the balance 20% came from the residents and Batu Lanchang assemblyman Danny Law Heng Kiang’s constituency funds.

“The installation of the new water tanks at Block 23 cost RM195,000.

“In 2014, the installation of the water tanks at Block 21 cost RM182,426 while the replacement of lifts at Block 23 was RM153,330.

“Back in 2011 and 2012, the lifts in Blocks 21 and 25 were replaced, costing RM153,330 per block,” he said in his speech after opening the new water tanks at Block 23 on Monday.

Lim said the installation of new water tanks in Block 25 cost RM162,400 back in 2012.

“We hope that the residents would co-operate in maintaining the facilities,” he added.
