CHINESE New Year joy was in the air as Rose Charities Malaysia entertained 100 senior citizens at the Than Hsiang Temple in Bayan Baru, Penang.

As festive music played, the senior citizens clapped and sang along in the gaily deco- rated common area of the temple.

Volunteers including children gave out goodie bags containing an assortment of edibles and necessities as well as ang pow to the elderly.

Rose Charities Malaysia president Lawrence Cheah Seong Paik said a choir along with qi gong, xiang gong and singing groups were brought in for the celebration.

“Some of the senior citizens may be fragile or sick but we make sure they are not forgotten,” he said on Sunday.

“This festive season is a reminder for the young who have parents or grandparents in old folk’s home or care centres to visit them.

“The senior citizens may feel lonely or neglected so please do visit them,” he said.
