THERE’S a new kid on the block and the name is Chaze.
It’s a new lounge that has taken shape on the first floor of Menara Lien Hoe in Petaling Jaya.
Inspired by the persona of someone who is suave, enigmatic and enjoys all the finer things in life, Chaze is bent on being a watering hole that emphasises the upscale experience.
“Chaze is based on the man who loves hosting soirees, appreciates good music, cocktails and distilled beverages.
“It welcomes anyone who seeks a place to unwind, drink and escape the outside world. It is where you will feel like you’ve stepped into a man’s sanctuary,” said M Group director Benson Tay at the “Loosen Your Tie” launch party.
This persona is reflected in every corner of the lounge, such as the entrance that takes one straight into Chaze’s “wardrobe”, which showcases actual articles from local designer brands.
Behind velvet curtains, the music leads you to the bar and down to the “living room” where you can pick a spot to relax on.
Then there are also the nooks reserved for games of pool or table tennis whereby you can play to the sounds of the DJ, who mans the turntable decks right next to you.
For those who prefer private get-togethers, there is a “playroom” that comes equipped with pool, darts and karaoke facilities, and a little bar where you can be your own bartender.
Tay said that Chaze seeks to be unconventional with the activities they offer, hence features like the ping-pong table.
“Ping pong bar lounges have been trending internationally and we’d like to be the first to bring it to Klang Valley,” he said, adding that the table doubles as a platform for their “Shot Pong Nights” activity.
These activities are perhaps best enjoyed with Chaze’s extensive list of spirits as well as speciality cocktails.
“Our speciality cocktails are refreshed periodically.
“We also believe palates can be revolutionised when the drinks are enhanced with nibbles. That’s why four out of six bespoke cocktails are paired with food, like the Glasgow Jar that’s served with beef jerky,” he explained.
The lounge functions as a speakeasy bar from Mondays to Thursdays, but it builds up towards a party ambience when the weekends come around.
Tay revealed that Chaze is the first of six establishments in the central gourmand hub called Marquee @ Menara Lien Hoe to be set up.
“This area lacks a concept like Chaze so we were very excited to have it up and running, as well as to introduce Marquee.
“We don’t want to disclose too much, but we can say that Marquee will become the ideal spot for people to enjoy an array of all-day dining and through-the-night programmes,” Tay concluded.
