THE Spring shopping mall is ready to begin the year of the fire Monkey King with the vibrant decoration of spring throughout the mall.

With the theme “Little Fire Monkey King”, the mall brings you the tales of its own monkey king that ruled a kingdom in the clouds but was inadvertently transported to the Spring shopping mall when it pursued a shiny orb in the sky.

Visitors can follow the adventures of the monkey king through the cherry blossoms adorning the mall’s concourse along with bold hues of auspicious red-coloured lanterns and traditional paper-cutting art. In the centre court, the little Red Monkey King stands tall and glowing brightly, drawing many visitors to take photos.

Visitors can play with a little 3D trick at the centre court with the creatively placed “Spring” word.

Not forgetting the bazaar at every festive season, the Retro Bazaar will feature all-time Chinese New Year goodies and delicacies from cookies to gift ideas like body care products. Families can take a trip down to Chinatown and bask in the festivity with the vintage and antique-inspired bazaar.

Wife of acting head-of-state Datin Amar Fatimah Mohd Iskandar, who represented the Chief Minister’s wife, Puan Sri Jamilah Anu, to officiate the festive season, said: “The Spring takes pride in challenging itself to bring bigger and better festive ambience each time.

“With all the cherry blossoms and red lanterns surrounding us, it really does feel like we are experiencing the spring season. I have also been told that this time around, the Chinese New Year decors will be an interactive one where there is a story of the Red Monkey behind them.”

The grand ceremony was celebrated with lion dances and performance from 24 festival drums and traditional dances.

The Spring shopping mall general manager Christine Ling said the mall was offering attractive redemptions for shoppers during their festive shopping.

“With spending starting from RM168 per receipt, shoppers can redeem gifts from Speedy Video limited edition red packets, L’occitane Immortelle Nero shower gel and Happy Hands trio set,” said Ling during her welcoming speech at the mall.

She also announced that there would be new brands opening in the mall this February such as Victoria Secrets Beauty and Assessories and Bath and Body Works from the United States.

“It is our mission to ensure that we continue to introduce more brands that can elevate Kuching to be an attractive shopping destination,” she said.
