BAKELALAN: Telecommunication companies operating in Sarawak must conduct regular ground checks throughout this vast state in order to understand the latest telephone and Internet coverage needs of the people.

Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) deputy president Datuk Nelson Balang Rining said it would not be enough for telcos to just set up office in the cities because in Sarawak there were about a million people living in rural settle- ments.
