Lt. Col Shamsuri (centre) with some of the children from Pulau Berhala in Sandakan.
KOTA KINABALU: Children living at the Berhala Island off Sandakan were given a back-to-school treat with the army and district library giving them stationery and reading material.
The 273 children from the 3M classes (reading, writing and arithmetic) are mostly foreigners and were not able to attend formal schools due to lack of documentation.
