THE free bus service in Selangor called Selangor Smart Bus, formerly known as Selangorku Bus, has now started in Kajang.
Currently, there is only one route for the bus, which is from the Kajang Bus Station at Reko Central to Jalan Besar station in Pekan Kajang.
The route traverses Jalan Reko, Persiaran Cempaka, Taman Sri Kejora, Taman Kajang Indah and Jalan Sungai Chua with a frequency of 15 to 20 minutes.
Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali said the bus service would help minimise the increasing cost of living for Kajang folk.
“We have decided to introduce the free bus service in Kajang as it is one of the places in Selangor that is rapidly developing,” he said during the launch of the service at the Kajang bus station yesterday.
Prior to Kajang, other areas enjoying the free service are Shah Alam, Subang Jaya and Klang.
Azmin said development in the district called for better infrastructure and effective public transportation.
For this year, the government has allocated RM10mil for the free bus service to help ease traffic congestion and to offer better facilities for Selangor residents.
At the event, another major launch was the Kajang Municipal Council’s (MPKj) i-Kajang mobile application.
It will enable residents in the municipality to report landslide and flash floods or to channel their complaints.
MPKj president Mohd Sayuthi Bakar said residents could attach an image file and the app would identify the location of the complaint.
“The app will help us work faster and users can also get update on whether the problem has been solved,” he said.
Currently, the app is only available for Android phones and can be downloaded for free from Google Play.
