AMERICAN Shane Granger, 67, and his German partner Meggi Macoun, 50, became emotional when they spoke about their mission to help the people of poverty-stricken East Timor (Timor-Leste).

Macoun said when they saw the children there going hungry and getting sick, they decided to use their 120-year-old Norwegian-built vessel Vega to deliver health and educational supplies to the remote islands of East Timor and east Indonesia.
