Septuagenarian loves a good read

Cheng browsing through The Star after renewing his subscription at Queensbay Mall.

A LONGTIME reader of The Star was quick to renew his subscription at Star Media Group Berhad’s roadshow booth in Queensbay Mall, Penang.

Cheng Shang Show, 70, has been a reader of the newspaper for over 30 years.

When asked why he was such a loyal reader, he waxed lyrical about the regular columns in the paper.

“The articles tell me so many things about what is happening in our nation.

“Among my favourite columnists are Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai, Datin Paduka Marina Mahathir, Azmi Shahrom and Zaid Ibrahim,” he said after getting his new one-year subscription at RM260 on Saturday.

The ex-civil servant said he also liked trying the Sudoku puzzles published in the daily.

Cheng had a pleasant surprise when his subscription renewal came with four passes to Senoptium 6D X Rider Motion and two packets of Chek Hup Mandheling Coffee worth more than RM100.

“I will pass these tickets to my grandchildren so they can enjoy themselves,” he said after receiving the freebies from Star Media Group audience management senior marketing representative Tan Guan Seng.

Readers can sign up for the ePaper bundle package for RM360 a year or renew their subscription for RM260 at Queensbay Mall (ground floor, in front of Haagen-Dazs) today from noon to 8pm and receive four passes to Senoptium 6D X Rider Motion and two packets of Chek Hup Mandheling Coffee.

The public can also sign up for a one-month trial package of The Star ePaper at RM35 or take the three-month package at RM90 to receive free entrance passes to various amusement parks worth more than RM100.
