MILKY was rescued as a puppy from the Selayang Municipal Council dog pound with about 10 other puppies in 2011.
He was one of the three that survived from the batch and fought hard to recover from various infections contracted from the pound.
Once Milky had recovered, he went under the care of canine welfare project Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better (MDDB) and was put up for adoption.
“It didn’t take long before he was adopted by a man to be the family pet,” said MDDB adoption coordinator Christine Lai.
Milky led a happy life with his family until recently when the man who had adopted him collapsed and died.
“The family could no longer afford to live in their house and had to move to an apartment which did not allow pets,” said Lai.
Milky has now returned to MDDB and is available for adoption.
He will be one of the puppies and dogs up for adoption tomorrow at the MDDB adoption drive in Jaya One, Jalan 13/6, Petaling Jaya.
The adoption drive, from 11am to 6pm, will be held behind the Cosway outlet.
According to Lai, Milky is a shadow of his old playful self and has become very quiet.
“He misses being a family dog amd we are hoping that people will at least come forward to foster him if they cannot adopt,” said Lai.
Lai said about 10 puppies would be at the adoption drive.
She added that MDDB was also raising funds to pay off its veterinary bills at the drive.
Those wanting to donate in cash and kind can drop of their contributions at the drive.
