MIRI: More than 40,000 people from all walks of life took part in the Christmas parade at the Miri City Fan Recreational Park last week.
The event was jointly organised by the 16 churches in Miri.
Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem, church leaders, including Bishop Richard Ng, and Miri Mayor Lawrence Lai graced the colourful event that was participated by schools, NGOs, church groups and the local communities.
School bands and church groups sang Christmas carols and played drums as they joined participants along the 7km route.
The organisers also invited several local bands to entertain the crowd throughout the night.
The Christmas parade, an annual affair since nine years ago, has become a meaningful event and a part of the tourism calender for the city.
