A SPECIAL invitation from Great Heart Charity Association gave the senior citizens from Grace Home the rare chance to try Cambodian cuisine when they visited Great Heart Community Centre (GHCC).
The food was specially prepared by Great Heart’s international intern from Cambodia, Hor Kimhour, who helmed a cooking demonstration-cum-sharing workshop for the elderly residents who wanted to learn more about Cambodian cooking style.
Hor shared on the ingredients used and the old folks had a chance to try preparing the food themselves.
Volunteers were on hand to assist Hor with the session, during which he whipped up a three-course Cambodian meal.
The sumptuous menu comprised sngor chrouk, a chicken soup cooked with mushroom, onion, lemongrass, and lime; luk lak – stir-fried minced chicken wrapped in fresh vegetables and served with a special dipping sauce and fried Tilapia fish.
Throughout the session, Hor explained in detail the preparation and cooking methods for the three dishes as the seniors took notes to ensure they would be able to cook the dishes themselves back at Grace Home.
The most anticipated part of the activity was when the old folks and volunteers got to try the mouth-watering Cambodian meal.
The senior citizens enjoyed themselves thoroughly and were happy to learn cooking tips along the way.
They expressed their gratitude to Hor and Great Heart Charity Association for introducing them to Cambodian dishes and the enjoyable cooking experience.
