Four nabbed for having 16.1g of heroin in house

MERSING: Three women and a 20-year-old man were arrested for storing heroin in their house in Kampung Pengkalan Batu here.

Based on a tip-off, police detained the four after finding about 16.1g of heroin following a house raid at 9.45pm on Wednesday, said Mersing OCPD Deputy Supt M. Kumar.

Three women, aged between 27 and 43 years old, and a 20-year-old man were detained and all of them tested positive for drugs, he said, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act.

In another case, DSP Kumar said that police picked up four suspects, believed to be involved in several snatch theft cases in the district.

He said the arrests were the result of several raids conducted at residential areas between 3pm to 6pm on Nov 19, following a snatch theft case involving foreigners on Nov 13.

We also seized a motorcycle, believed to have been used to carry out the crimes as well as several stolen items belonging to victims who lodged reports, he said, adding that the suspects, aged 24 years and 33 years old, were remanded for investigations.

On another matter, DSP Kumar also said that police detained two men, aged 23 years and 33 years old, in two separate raids in connection with online gambling activities on Nov 16 and Nov 17.

In the first raid, officers nabbed a 33-year-old suspect after discovering several tools used for online gambling activities.

A thorough check in the house also led to the discovery of 17 plastic bags of drinks, believed to be Ketum water, he said, adding that the 23-year-old suspect was picked up in a restaurant in town.
