CHECK out a quartet of iconic Ferraris at the Shell V-Power LEGO activity centre currently in Gurney Plaza, Penang.
The 1:2 scale replicas, built from 225,300 tiny plastic bricks, comprise the Italian luxury carmaker's F12berlinetta, F138, 250 GTO and 512 S models. It will be on display until tomorrow.
They were pieced together by a team of 16 builders at LEGO Productions S.R.O. in the Czech Republic over a total of 930 hours.
Visitors to the roadshow, which kicked off at the mall's central atrium on Thursday, would also get to enjoy interactive games and activities.
There are LEGO-building areas where children and adults can spend quality time harnessing their imagination and assembling various things from the bricks provided.
The event here, which is the second in a series of three, celebrates the launch of the new Shell V-Power LEGO Collection – a range of buildable collectibles available exclusively at Shell stations nationwide.
Created in collaboration with Ferrari and the LEGO Group, it features six designs, each with between 42 to 79 bricks. They are being released every Sunday until Dec 13.
Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd and Shell Timur Sdn Bhd managing director Azman Ismail said two had been released thus far – the F138 on Nov 1, and Shell Fiorano Station Set on Nov 8.
Like its larger counterpart on display at the roadshow, the smaller F138 is a nifty representation of the vehicle driven to two victories by Fernando Alonso in the 2013 FIA Formula One World Championship.
"Many of us have played with LEGO bricks as a child, so why not relive the good old days with our loved ones?
"With school holidays fast approaching, perhaps parents can spend more time with their children assembling these collectibles," he said.
The next release tomorrow will be the 250 GTO, which debuted in 1962 and is now among the most sought after vintage models with only 39 ever made.
Following that on Nov 22 will be the F12berlinetta, Ferrari's fastest ever road car introduced in 2012, and the 512 S on Nov 29 which debuted to several race wins in the 1970s.
The final two releases will be a Podium Set on Dec 6, and a limited edition Shell Tanker on Dec 13.
All car models also have a pullback motor that can propel the toy up to two metres on a single pull.
Customers can purchase the collectibles for between RM9.90 and RM13.90 when spending a minimum of RM40 on Shell V-Power or Shell FuelSave petrols, or when buying 4-litre bottles of Shell Helix motor oil.
Azman hoped the collection would bring motorists, race fans, toy enthusiasts, children and adults together, making Shell a happygathering spot for all.
"The simple act of building can be more meaningful and fun when shared with others," he said.
