THE ballroom at Setia City Convention Centre was boisterous as some 1,000 high-spirited guests attended Ajiya Bhd’s 25th anniversary dinner celebration.
Themed “Night of Colours”, the evening was vibrant from the sea of glittering decorations and multi-coloured attire to animated chatter and laughter.
Among those who attended were Ajiya’s business partners, suppliers, associates and friends who came from as far as China, Japan, Taiwan, Indonesia, Thailand and Singapore.
In his speech, Ajiya group managing director Datuk Chan Wah Kiang thanked everyone for their unwavering support, commitment and trust for Ajiya for the last 25 years that have helped the company achieve a strong footing and recognition in the building material industry.
“Twenty-five years ago, Ajiya started out in a very small factory producing metal roofing with just three employees in Segamat, Johor.
“Today, we have grown into a company manufacturing a full comprehensive range of house and commercial building components. We are also a public-listed company on the Main Board of Bursa Malaysia.
“There was a tremendous amount of pain along the way but with sheer drive, strong vision and determination, we succeeded. It has not been an easy path for Ajiya and exactly for that reason, we treasure our success even more,” said Chan.
Ajiya’s core business consists of the metal group and glass group. The metal group produces metal roofing products, metal frames, structural products, composite floor decking, lightweight channel products, metal ceiling and sunshade products, and has factories across the country and in Thailand,
The glass group was formed to produce high value added safety glass products like tempered energy saving safety glass, heat strengthened glass, laminated energy saving safety glass, insulating energy saving glass, value added energy saving low-e safety glass, ceramic printing safety glass and all kinds of security safety glass.
Ajiya was certified with ISO 9002:1994 for Ari Utara Sdn Bhd and ISO 9001:2000 for Ajiya Safety Glass Sdn Bhd, thus qualifying them for international market.
“We take pride in providing professional services and technology, backed by our superior expertise and dedication, to the long-term benefits of our customers,” said Chan.
Not one to rest on its laurels, Ajiya aims to become a one-stop manufacturer with integrated building solutions by combining its two key strengths, thus developing the Ajiya Green Integrated Building Systems (IBS) that is highly efficient with versatility in design and eco-friendly.
The IBS can also be incorporated with Ajiya’s eight series of housing component systems - lightweight steel wall framing with wet wall system, metal door and window frames, composite floor decking, metal ceilings, sunshades, lightweight truss system, metal roofing, and safety glass with aluminium sash.
Chan also said that Ajiya was committed to providing the community with affordable and sustainable construction solutions as they are determined to continue their position as a market leader.
Staff and guests of the company was treated to a sumptuous eight-course dinner, free flow of drinks, energetic dance performances as well as a sand art showcase by Malaysian sand artist Loong Bee.
A best-dressed contest and lucky draw were also held.
Chan, whose birthday was the following day, was also given a surprise as his staff presented him with a birthday cake.
