SP Setia Foundation held a spectacular charity dinner for their valued donors at the Setia City Convention Centre, Setia Alam.

The dinner was held in appreciation of the donors’ generous contributions towards the advancement of education of less fortunate children and SP Setia announced it had raised a whopping RM8.62mil this year.

SP Setia Foundation chairman Tan Sri Wan Mohd Zahid Mohd Noordin expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the guests who were present at the event.

“We are truly thankful for the generous donation from all donors as it will allow us to lend a helping hand to more Malaysians in need, touching the hearts of many who are underprivileged, especially in the education field,” said Wan Mohd Zahid.

He added that this year’s contribution was the highest amount collected in support of the Foundation, the group’s corporate social responsibility arm.

Earlier this year, SP Setia Foundation launched the Setia Caring School Programme in its continuous pursuit to nurture a caring community to uplift the moral of the society and to enhance national unity.

Among the guests present were Education director-general and SP Setia Foundation patron Datuk Seri Dr Khair Mohamad Yusof, SP Setia Bhd Board of Trustee member Datuk Dr Nik Norzrul Thani Nik Hassan Thani, acting president and chief executive officer Datuk Khor Chap Jen and acting deputy president and chief operating officer Datuk Wong Tuck Wai.

“I am so excited to be part of the Setia Caring School Programme and words cannot describe how heart-warming it is for me to see so many people who are passionate about supporting education in our country for this noble cause,” said Dr Khair.

Since the commencement of the Setia Caring School Programme, SP Setia Foundation has been working with teachers, parents and students from SK Meru Jalan Tap, SJK(C) Lee Min and SJK(T) Ladang Vallambrosa.

Some of the activities held with the aim to foster care and love include Caring for the Environment during World Environment Day and Caring for the Community during Ramadan.

“It was heart-warming to see parents coming forward to help and participate in these meaningful activities.

“The joy of spreading love and care was evident in the faces of those who gave as well as those who received,” noted Wan Mohd Zahid, adding it was a picture-perfect moment.

Besides caring for the environment and the community, he added the Foundation would also focus on cultivating other areas of care such as caring for family, friends, the school and nature.

“I assure all donors that your contribution will be spent wisely to aid those in need, and hopefully, adopt more schools under the Setia Caring School Programme before the year ends,” Wan Mohd Zahid promised.

Since its inception in 2000, the annual charity event has raised approximately RM71.4mil.

Besides the entertaining performances by schoolchildren, SP Setia employees and comedians from the Malaysian Association of Chinese Comedians, the night also saw guests dine on a lavish eight-course menu.

The top 10 donors were presented with handmade souvenirs made by the students and Team Setia volunteers as tokens of appreciation.
