AFTER months of anticipation, the Aeon Mall Ipoh Klebang is finally open.
Thousands thronged the mall from the moment it opened on Wednesday, unperturbed by the traffic jams and long queues for parking bays.
Housewife G. Leelawathy, 40, said she was so excited at being able to experience the mall at last that even the traffic jam did not matter.
“I’ve been waiting for months to see what it’s like.
“It’s so exciting that the brands that we used to only get in the Klang Valley are finally here,” said the Taman Klebang Jaya resident who was accompanied by her two teenage children.
Leelawathy said the opening of the mall not only provided more job opportunities but also helps boost the value of property in the Klebang area.
“I had wanted to sell my house initially but changed my mind after getting to know that Aeon would open a new mall here,” she said.
SJK (C) Chung Tack pupil Cheow Lik Min, 11, said his mother and aunt had intended to visit the mall without him as he had to attend school.
“But thank goodness the haze was bad and school was cancelled at the very last minute,” he said.
Retired civil servant Goh Seong Pheow, 62, who visited the mall with his family, expressed relief that his property investments in the Klebang area are finally bearing fruit after 10 years.
“Much has changed in Klebang in the last 10 years, more so with the coming up of this mall.
“Hopefully, more can be done to improve the telecommunications reception here as well as the roads, drainage and street lighting,” he said.
Aeon Co (M) Bhd executive director Poh Ying Loo said the 47,487sq m mall will serve the 310,000 strong population in the vicinity.
“We are proud to hit another milestone with the opening of Aeon Mall Ipoh Klebang,” said Poh after performing the ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the store’s opening.
“With our new rebranding exercise to be the primary retail lifestyle hub, we are keen to contribute to the growth of Klebang,” he said, adding that the mall created 300 new job openings.
