THE dumping of pet animals, especially dogs, has increased while fewer of them are being adopted from rescuers and shelters in the past six months.

Peggy Wong, of the Ipoh Animal Welfare Society, said adoption drives had been anything but successful ever since the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) in April.
