The convergence of Christians as well as non-Christian pilgrims and devotees to participate in feast day commemorations and traditional ceremonies and rituals have been part and parcel of Malacca’s religious heritage since the Catholic faith was introduced by the Portuguese, Franciscan and Augustinian missionaries since 1511.
The second weekend in September is a continuation of this tradition as droves of people head to the Malim hilltop chapel for the feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross (Santa Cruz) .
