The soup kitchen operators will be starting its food distribution at the Medan Tuanku Feeding Centre tonight at 9pm.
Pertiwi Soup Kitchen founder Munirah Abdul Hamid said they would be distributing on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights at the centre, which was initiated by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).
"Pertiwi will start tonight, Kechara Soup Kitchen will do food distribution on Saturday nights and Need to Feed the Need (NFN) will go on Thursday nights. Kaseh4u may also take up Tuesday nights," she said when met at Medan Tuanku Feeding Centre earlier today during a press conference with Federal Territories Ministry secretary-general Datuk Adnan Md Ikhsan.
She said they were also planning to distribute food there during lunch but were in the midst of confirming the plans.
"The feeding will begin about 9pm and last until 10.30pm. We expect about 400 homeless people tonight," she said.
Meanwhile, Adnan also said the homeless shelter in Jalan Pahang would start its operation within two months.
On Sept 23, StarMetro reported that soup kitchen operators were baffled with the recent statement by the Kuala Lumpur mayor that none of them have stepped forward to help run two newly built shelters for the homeless.
