First state to recognise UEC Adenan’s support of the Chinese independent school certificate has moved mountains

By Yu Ji

CHIEF Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem first announced his support for the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) in his Chinese New Year message on Feb 18.

I can still recall sitting in the office reading the email from the Information Department containing the speech. It was towards the end of a short two-page document in which Adenan said he had “written” to the then Education Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, urging the Federal Government to recognise UEC.
